 Oxford Nature Club-2006 Oxford Nature Club-2005 Observation of World Water Day
On the eve of Ganesh Chathurthi the Oxford Nature Club has organized workshop for the students from 22 nd to 24 th August, 2006 in their school premises. Students of classes III to X are given an opportunity to make Ganesh Idols with clay through which they learnt to protect environment from pollution. They learnt that chemicals used in the coloured idols after immersion are causing air pollution and water pollution. Nearly 200 students in about 3 batches has made idols and they were put on an Exhibition for the parents.

Today, the Oxford Nature Club members took out a rally in their school neighbourhood to insist the worship of clay idols instead of chemical sprayed plaster of Paris idols. The students interacted with the neighbourhood civilians and requested them for their contribution in keeping the environment pollution free and save the Hussain Sagar
Oxford Nature Club of the School has conducted workshop on promotion of Clay Ganesh idols without paint from 22 nd August 2006 to 24 th August, 2006 , in the school premises on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. About 500 students are guided in the workshop to bring awareness about usage of clay Ganesh idols. Mr.M.Vedakumar, Chairman, Children's Educational Academy enlightened the participants in regards to the reason of using the clay Ganeshas. He said, the clay Ganesha have to be prepared preferably of small size using vegetable based natural colours to avoid pollution of the immersion places weather it is Hussain Sangar or a lake or even it is a well. If the present citizen follows this method then the future generation can have pollution free water resources

The oxford Nature Club renewed its activities for 2006-2007 academic year. Mr. P.Mallikarjun Rao, Director Forest Academy was the chief guest Mrs.Farida Tampal Director W.W.F., A.P. State office. Mr.Rehman Educational Officer from W.W.F. were also present. The meeting was presided by Mr. M.Veda Kumar. Mrs. B.Saileela, HeadMistress of O.G.S, Mr. Muralidhar Rao, the Correspondent were the others present in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion Mr.P.Mallikarjun Rao stressed the control of pollution, Conservation of nature and balance of bio diversity. He is worried about the activities affecting the increase in extinction of Flora & Fauna species. He felt very sorry for the present generation children who are living in the polluted environment by the increase in the CO 2 levels. He said that 30% of forest is declined now to 22% due to the pollution and other natural calamities. He hoped that the nature activists will take the responsibility of minimising the devastation and advised the students to educate one and all in the society as much they can so that their contribution of service will reap by developing a clean environment

Mr.M.Veda Kumar the chairman of the Oxford Grammar School in his presidential address hoped that the activities of the nature club would increase for this academic year in the directions of bringing awareness among their peer group and also in their surroundings.

Mrs.Farida Tampal came out with the dedication the present generation have to contribute and the contribution from the W.W.F. organisation involving the students from various schools in A.P. She announced a project “Pancha Bhutalu” inauguration on 16 th September for the protection of Environment from all types of pollution

The meeting concluded with the free distribution of saplings to the parents of O.G.S. students and planting of medicinal plants in the school botanical garden

A.P.Forest Academy organized today i.e., 30.6.2006 at 11.00 a.m. in Primary Building premises an informative programme for the students of Oxford Grammar School. The programme was inaugurated by Head Mistress Mrs.Saileela who introduced Dr.P.Dharmachandra Kumar, a representative of A.P.Forest Academy to the students and teachers. Dr.Dharmachandra gave very useful information to the students about the wildlife. He expressed concern over the depletion of ozone layer which is a threat to the survival of human beings. Students who are future citizens should realize the measures on war footing are needed to protect environment. India has largest variety of plants, approximately 21,000 plants out of which 1500 are recognized as medicinal plants. Dr.Chandra explained to the kids that some animals and plants are listed as endangered like Cheetah, Tiger.
In Canada cool drinks are produced out of herbal plants. Plants provide solutions for many ailments including cancer. The information about such plants was given in detail like “Tulasi” plants care snake bite. Due to the efforts taken by Government of India, we have now 27% of area under forest cover. In Andhra Pradesh we have 20 wildlife sanctuaries and 3 national parks.

At the end of film show, students took an oath to keep their city clean and green, plant more trees and provide everyone with pure air and clean water

Oxford Nature Club of Oxford Grammar School, Himayathnagar renewed its activities for the academic year 2005-06 on 22nd July, 2005 in the school garden. The Chief Guest for the day was Mr.B.Srinivas, Dist.,Forest Officer, Medak.  Speaking on the occasion he insisted the role of student in the conservation of nature and protection of it and understanding it.  Pointing out about the present day problems of global warming which is by the increase of the levels of CO2 beyond 0.03%, he advised the students to grow more plants in around their habitat and motivated the student members in taking the oath of promoting greenery in the rural areas.  This which he felt is possible only by the students.  Mrs.Farida Tampal, Director, W.W.F, A.P.State Office, who also a spoken on the occasion stressed the need of students interacting with nature which can be possible only by conducting nature trips to forest, zoos and conservative forests.  She motivated the students by giving few live examples where the people are volunteering themselves in the protection of nature and the vegetation.

Mr.Vedakumar.M, the Chairman, Children’s Educational Academy,  while presiding over the programme said that, children are the biggest voices for plating trees.  He extended his help to the student members in promoting greenery and ecosystem in the nature.  He emphasised that students should build good vegetation and free nature by determination.

200 student members of the Oxford Nature Club participated in the programme with interest and showed their concern.  Later free distribution of saplings to few parents of the school and neighbourhood was held by Mr.B.Srinivas, the Chief Guest and Mrs.Farida Tampal.

The programme was attended by Mrs.B.Saileela, Head Mistress and Mr.M.L.Muralidhar Rao, Correspondent of Oxford Grammar School.

On the occasion of “World Water Day” Oxford Grammar School has organised an awareness programme for the students.

The students were briefed about water harvesting pits and its usage in day to day life.

The teachers were successful in bringing awareness among the students about the conservation of the water through various examples. Keeping the alarming water condition in view the teachers stressed the immediately need for water conservation.

Students were asked to interact and they came out with various possible suggestions which are applicable in practical life to conserve water and have taken oath to spread their awareness in the community.
